About the Book

LONG WALK TO PEACE (inner) How a "South African "Moegoe" became "politically aware"... Thanks, once again, Madiba for all you have done for the "always beloved country" (as well as for the licence with my title) This little e-book of memories is for you and all South Africans (these are my very first writings, written in the "very dark days" of winter in June of 1992 in SA) A "Long March to Justice": Reflections on my very privileged journey "born under Apartheid" I was born in 1950, two years before the National Party won the election in South Africa and imposed the harshest racial legislation the world has ever known. Here is the story of my journey and the first stirrings of my "political awakening"... From http: //www.amazon.com/Ill-Do-It-My-Way/dp/0473147564/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386611662&sr=8-2&keywords=craig+lock+%2B+I%27ll+do+it+my+way and http: //www.amazon.com/Ill-Do-My-Way-Story-ebook/dp/B005GS6ZVO/ SEA AND SAND Sea and sand My love My land, God bless Africa Sea and sand My love My land, God bless Africa But more the South of Africa Where we live.... Bless the angry mountains And the smiling hills Where the cool water spills To heal the earth's brow Bless the children of South Africa The white children And the black children But more the black children Who lost the sea and the sand That they may not lose love For white children Whose fathers raped the land.... Sea and sand My love My land, God bless Africa Many sunsets Gold and crimson Have dripped on the horizon, Weeping for the dying day. Many dawns have risen In timely resurrection From their cradles of light Sunsets and dawns Dawns and sunsets I have seen them all But when, Oh when will I see that day When love will walk the common way To heal my wounded people And break the shackles around their hearts? - Don Mattera. I love that poem. DEDICATION: This work is also dedicated to all those people who over the years fought for a free and democratic South Africa. There are so many names, I could fill a book. It is especially dedicated to those who made the supreme sacrifice in paying with their lives, the "supreme sacrifice". I'll only name a few: people like Steve Biko, Neil Aggett, David Webster, Abdul Timol and Hector Petersen, the schoolboy and the first shot dead in the Soweto uprising of 1976. All these people I'm sure would be pleased to see the New South Africa. It is especially dedicated to all those people who have suffered under the OLD SOUTH AFRICA of racism and oppression...and that is ALL SOUTH AFRICANS. Apartheid divided not only blacks and whites, but everyone. And lastly, this book is dedicated to you, Marie, Gareth Sean (and yes, you too Sharon)... for all the sacrifices you made for me. You may feel that in the past I neglected you with my focus, nay "obsession" (as you called it) for "the beloved country". As you know, I express myself far better in writing than verbally... so just wanted to say this.... "outoppie" "Watching children grow You wait for it to happen you hurry it along with lo
About the Author: About the Author on the 'Writing Journey': Craig Lock is an author of numerous books and the creator of the ORIGINAL online creative writing course. He has been writing full-time for the past "lucky" seven years. Craig has had five books published on various subjects with another 12 manuscripts being published and marketed on the Internet. The year 2000 * Updated in August 2011 "I write because I simply HAVE to" "Writers help readers to see the world differently." "I write because something inside myself, inner and unconscious forces me to." That is the first compulsion. The second is one of ethical and moral duty." "I write about and believe in the resilience of humanity- I truly believe in the triumph of the human spirit." "I really value words and the power of them to communicate effectively; so in my various stories try to illustrate and then let readers draw their own conclusions about a certain scenario, as well as the characters searching for their own values in an increasingly complex social and political landscape. However, I do feel an obligation to give a complete picture of the situation, which is often not a clear-cut 'black or white' issue (as in South Africa). I never want to proscribe how people should think and feel my only duty as a writer is to be totally honest." - craig "I love to write about, share stories of the resilience and courage of ordinary (what's that?) people." In his various writings Craig strives in some small way to break down and economic, social, cultural and religious barriers. Craig believes that whilst we should celebrate our differences, what we share in the form of our common humanity is way more important than what divides us. http: //www.craiglockbooks.com The various books that Craig "felt inspired to write"are available at: http: //www.amazon.com/-/e/B005GGMAW4 http: //www.amazon.com/s/ref=la_B005GGMAW4_sr?rh=i%3Abooks&field-author=Craig+Lock&sort=relevance&ie=UTF8&qid and http: //goo.gl/vTpjk "There is neither Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana, Pedi. Afrikaner, boer, "rooinek", Coloured or Indian, male or female. There is only a God-filled humanity."
