About the Book

The heart of Bordentown is alive with the dead. A couple of businesses have people frequenting their building that they cannot see. Some date back to pre-English settlers when the Lenni-Lenape gathered for pow-wows in what is today's Bordentown City, New Jersey. Some spirits so loved a place that they cannot bear to leave it. And yet others wanted to leave but did not know how. One in particular was directed to seek the light and follow it.The Burlington Library Company in Burlington City, New Jersey have ghosts that are extremely active, still caring how things are in their realm, and wanting their life after life to remain in peace without disturbance. The South Jersey Ghost Research group have investigated and come up with results. An interview with two researchers is also included. These stories come from those who have lived with ghosts; are comfortable with them and some who are not. Scary stories come from old Mill Street where the properties were cleared away to make room for the modern I-295 entrance and exit. "Good riddance," says one man who lived there. The Anderson Street story is a continuation of reports from previous tenants and owners. Ghosts that were not seen earlier, have revealed themselves to the present family. It isn't surprising with all the renovations completed to the house.Yet not all ghosts come from long ago. Many are modern-day just wanting their former home to be just right, the way it was when they lived there. Some stories involved pets who are quite welcome, thank you, and have chosen to stay behind in their comfortable homes. All the stories are informative and entertaining, allowing us to step into another realm, to learn and understand what we cannot see.

In addition to writing Bice uses the painting arts for expression and has won local and state competitions in both oils and watercolors. She has studied with the late internationally known Juanita Crosby. Artist Gail Bracegirdle led her to plein-air painting.
