About the Book

English summary: The Corpus Dionysiacum Areopagiticum is a collection of pseudo-epigraphs dating from Late Christian Antiquity (around 500 AD) and one of the key sources for the fields of both theology and philosophy. The following study is focused on a presentation of its broadly based international research history. The author reveals how previous research has generally alternated between adopting a philosophical or a theological approach. She herself takes a mediatory role in that she tries to combine both perspectives. Beyond this, particular attention is given to the Ancient Georgian reception (11th century, the Black Mountain near Antioch) of this influential work that was brought about by Ep'rem Mcire's Georgian translation. A Greek-Georgian glossary is included in the commentary section.
