About the Book

"I had always been around a lot of 'religion, ' but very little 'faith.'"

My books are 'spiritual direction' on Christian faith, and on the need for meticulous 'care of the soul.' Way too many longtime [and lifelong] professed Christians don't even know that religious convictions and social policy zeal don't equate to or constitute faith, according to God and Christ. They don't know that 'religion' is NOT faith; and that Christ's entire ministry on earth was to rebuke and denounce organized religion [those claiming to be children of God] for their faithlessness and Godlessness and inhumanity. The enemy of Christian faith isn't 'other religions' or 'atheism, ' it's professing Christianity in bad faith.

And unwittingly being 'led astray by false teachings' is still bad faith, by God's standards. This book is about the individual 'spiritual pre-work' required to fully develop 'divine listening' skills within. Its about the introductory levels of getting yourself 'ears to hear' - as Christ consistently taught. And about asking yourself if you're up to the task of providing moral, religious, & spiritual leadership for your own professed Christianity?

The Author's writings on Christian faith aren't for those that practice 'civil religion, ' or for those that 'blindly follow' anybody or anything - thinking the more angry and aggressive, morally unreasonable, and psychologically violent they are, the more 'devout' they are in Christian faith. Nor are her writings for those that still waver about the 'existence' or 'goodness' of God, or for those who 'question the [continued] authority' of Christ [God's Word] over professed Christianity and over humanity.

Her writings are for those that truly value and treasure real faith in God and Christ, but are disillusioned by and have grown distrustful of 'religion' as a credible moral compass or as a reliable spiritual guide. Realizing that they know way more about their respective religious tradition than they do about God or Christ. The Author writes for those that are ready to take full responsibility for their own professed Christian faith - ready to learn to do the 'inner work' necessary, to get the promised results of faith.

She writes for those that take God at His Word, and have come to realize that mere 'religion' and Church Life haven't successfully taught them God and Christ - that despite years [if not a lifetime] of professed Christianity, neither their professed 'faith' in Christ nor their 'prayers' to God remotely reflect what Christ Himself taught and described and promised.

About the Author: Imani Dhakiya writes and teaches about 'care of the soul' and contemplative practices for the non-monastic life. In addition to serving as a Chalice Bearer, Eucharistic Visitor and facilitator for the Centering Prayer for the Active Life group, she serves on the Spiritual Formation & Nurture Committee at St. Philips Cathedral in Atlanta, GA. She holds a B.B.A. in Finance, a law degree [J.D.] and a seminary degree [M.Div.] all from Howard University in Washington, D.C. As a Credit Risk Analytics professional, her writings and theological reflections are especially useful for the practical reality of busy professionals with demanding careers and other responsibilities.
