About the Book

L.I.N. an acronym for Living Intelligent Network, is the sequel to the book - The Other.

In the first book, Kaetlyn O'Sullivan, an eighteen-year-old living in a remote town on the southwest coast of Ireland, is having repeated visions of places and things she has never experienced before, and yet, which continue to haunt her. With the help of a therapist, who eventually gets a clue of the problem and uses regressive therapy, Kaetlyn soon discovers that her visions are coming from her past life, and that eighteen-years earlier, she crashed into the sea nearby. At the same time as Kaetlyn is trying to reconcile the revelation, the Irish military finds and exhumes an alien craft from the cliffs nearby. When the dots finally connect, Kaetlyn is cast into the spotlight, as global powers attempt to abscond the craft, but only Kaetlyn has the means of accessing it and its computer - called L.I.N. As media and global powers move in, the scene edges toward a military showdown, and Kaetlyn becomes the target, because she has no interest in turning over the ship's technology to anyone. Mother Earth is also ramping up its assault on humanity as global warming pitches us ever closer to a debacle that threatens our existence, and Kaetlyn, with the help of her therapist, soon realizes the true nature of her past life and why she came to Earth. In L.I.N. the 2nd book, Kaetlyn wakes up from a coma, after having survived a near-fatal shooting by a religious fanatic who claimed she was the herald of Satan, a threat to humanity. During her recovery, she sees more of her past life, and with it comes a clarity and purpose of what she must now do. The race is on - can she accomplish her mission, or will those with other agendas, those more interested in the technology that her ship offers, stop her before she can finish what she was sent to do. A thrilling geopolitical and military thriller, with a touch of speculative fiction thrown in.

"The sequel to The Other, L.I.N. (acronym for Live-Intelligent-Network) is as grabbing and highly suspenseful as its predecessor in the series. The engaging narrative and non-stop action held my interest from start to finish. The plot revolves around an intriguing subject: people must find a solution to how to save their home, the planet Earth. But are they ready to sacrifice their every-day life's comfort and criminal carelessness to achieve it? It's evident the author has in-depth knowledge of the subject and how dear to his heart it is. Laplaine is doing great work by presenting non-fiction in the literary form of fiction, which significantly broadens the scope of his readership. The ending will leave you in awe. I didn't see it coming. L.I.N. is also a story that evokes hope, so needed in this challenging time of total confusion and treacherous uncertainty. In the words of a character: "... because here on Earth, right and wrong are a matter of viewpoint, depending on who it serves." And on the resilience of the human spirit, I would add. Listen to the author's appeal, an important and timely warning. I would highly recommend this book to the young and adults."
Marina Osipova, author of How Dare the Birds Sing

"This novel reads more like actuality than fiction. It tackles an issue so very real to the present day, with both the humanity's concern and disregard for our well-being. I was enthralled reading the prequel and bit my nails until this follow-up was released." A. Mogan, author of The Secret Journals of Adolf Hitler
