Like One is an anthology of humorous and uplifting poems created to raise money for The One Fund, the charity for the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings. The book encompasses a diverse blend of poets from all over the U.S. with one common goal: building a better world. Poets created a book that would be used to heal the community and the country while raising money for The One Fund. As part of the healing process, poets were encouraged to send poems that healed and lifted the spirit with humor and joy. Some of the poems will make readers laugh out loud. Others will take readers on an enlightening journey through the literary landscape of love, family, and nature. Poetry creates catharsis. Its power is wrapped in the creative harnessing of raw emotion. It heals and nourishes the spirit while showing the mind a new way to view the world and new language to express that view. It allows people to connect in new ways and generates new thought patterns to heal. About the Author: Deborah Finkelstein is an American poet, playwright, editor, and professor. She is the editor of Like One, an anthology of acclaimed poets from around the U.S. created to raise money for The One Fund, a charity that assists victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing. She writes free verse poetry, haiku, tanka, and villanelle. Her poetry has been published in anthologies and literary magazines in nine countries and translated into Japanese and Serbian. Recent publications include Lummox, Ibbetson Street, Magnolia, and Cradle Songs. She has had plays published in Audition Monologues for Young Women: Contemporary Audition Pieces for Aspiring Actresses and literary magazines. Her plays have been part of festivals around the U.S. Finkelstein teaches creative writing at North Shore Community College and Endicott College.
