A Life Lived: her name means victory. is a first person account through the lens of poetry. This book of poems provides a foundation to explore the complexity of having ones life built up and then completely scattered over the course of five years. The ability to face ones truth- no matter how difficult- is core of this epoch. A Life Lived: Her Name Means Victory is a profound first-person account told through the transformative lens of poetry, exploring the intricate connections between neuro trauma, healing, and the resilience of women. At its heart, it is about confronting one's deepest truths, no matter how difficult, and finding the strength to rise again. One pivotal Friday evening at Vanderbilt University Medical Center changes everything. The acceptance of Dilaudid and Gadolinium, triggers chaos and disruption. What was once a life full of promise is derailed by a near-death experience, followed by transient ischemic attacks, stuttering, tremors, and PTSI. This is the discovery that a person can be living, yet dead at the same time.
This collection follows one woman's journey through devastating loss and the beginnings of new life, capturing the healing process that unfolds through trauma. It navigates the neurological complexities of trauma's impact on the brain and the body, alongside the emotional depths of love and recovery.
In this epic journey through personal and societal trauma, everything is brought to the surface. To survive this season, the woman must redefine the structures of her life and challenge the limitations placed on her as a woman. Through her eyes, the reader is invited to witness the broader collective experience of human suffering and survival.
This book also addresses profound love and sorrow-exploring trauma to the mind, body, and spirit. It touches on miscarriage, near-death experiences, and divorce, alongside themes of conception, bodily autonomy, and love. The narrative critiques the societal pressures women face as they strive for freedom and fulfillment, and the struggle to balance ambition in a world that imposes limiting roles on women.
As in the already released we Women me, joy. the last section makes the case for true joy based in a deep faith, acceptance of receiving and facing what true healing actually produces: Love The beauty of poetry allows for many facets of oneself to resonate, both for the reader and the poet. While this is a memoir, A Life Lived, her name means victory. is an enduring tome to view ones own transformative events that shape humanity. A Note from the Poet: And finally...
One beautiful journey to discover whom I already knew inside.
Similar to the Book of Job, one must encounter all of life that is outside one's control. As the Greeks captured.
Everything within these pages has been written from the first person. And are true. We are in a time where the truth finds it way out. It it not always kind nor flattering, but necessary. A great tragedy. For me, I learned how to face death- in all forms- head on. And I'm still in the process of learning to live again.
And continue to encounter great joy.
My hope with this book of poetry it allows your mind, body, soul and spirit to release and heal. Healing is real and alive and active for those who seek it.
May Peace always be with you."
