My mother used to call me when we had no food at home, she would ask me for money and would have none to give her. I often heard the following words and I remember them until this day: "How am I going to survive without food my son, without money I won't be able to buy some food". In my mind the following question came up every single time: "What is money?" When you look up the meaning for this word on Google the answer is shown as - "A current medium of exchange in the form of coins and banknotes." I beg to differ, in my opinion, money is the humanity ability to survive,
especially in these modern days we find ourselves in. All of us should be able to understand the "language money speaks" in order to survive for the rest of our lives.
You go to work because you need to make a living, since unemployment is at its highest level in our country, what are you going to do if you also find yourself on the dreaded unemployment list? Besides this, let's say that your schooling goes well, you get that impressive job with your high qualifications which you attained from the important and expensive school you attended; then you get dismissed, laid off, you end up disabled by some terrible accident or you retire at your job. What then? You haven't got the slightest idea about how many days or years you are going to be alive in this world, or what you are going to do for a living either. When you die, how will your children if you have any, survive? Your highly obtained qualifications won't ever help them. Always ask yourself these questions. There are people who are surviving because their forefathers prepared and provided so that they could have a good life, why not follow in their footsteps, and prepare for your coming generations.
People are heavily relying on jobs and temporary employment, they aren't aware of the fact that jobs can only feed them for a day, getting information and obtaining knowledge about how things operate in the real world can help them a lot, it can also help you a lot. They can acquire education that is not taught at our schools. A very important education, education that can feed you for a lifetime. The reason everyone is so obsessed with money is simple, without it, it is very difficult to make a living. That is why you will always find people doing different things to make money in order to survive. Some people prefer to go to work for a living and some prefer developing businesses.
To those who prefer going to work only, are all of you aware that the job you are doing today will one day end? Life is unpredictable and you need to ask yourself what's going to happen with your life when life throws you that unpredictable and unexpected curveball. The system which has been used to prepare people for life is weak, it prepares people to survive for short periods. That is why you will always find people struggling after their working days have come to an end. You need energy to work, and when that energy is depleted, you won't be able to work and you won't have money to continue making a living. This is what I believe to be the reason most black people are struggling, especially during their senior years.
We are living in a world that is transforming everyday due to the evolution and improvement of technology, another reason which causes unemployment to increase globally. Relying on jobs can lead you on the road to poverty in the near future. Technology have already taken billions of jobs, it changes labour that was done manually to automatic machinery, however could we as humans ever compete with a man-made machine? How will you survive after that machine takes over your job since you have been taught in school to rely on employment and qualifications? To me, relying on my ability to perform in a job seems like a fairy tale, I am not saying that I don't work, I work, but I make sure that I love what I'm doing, still I do not rely on my employment.
