About the Book

A woman escapes from an Institution for the Criminally Insane. Having no memory, she lives on the streets. Flashes appear --- glimpses of her past. She remembers. She is Sara McCormick, doctor's wife, and only child of Bob and Joan Wilkinson. The Wilkinson's are kind, compassionate, civic-minded people and wonderful parents. Life for Sara appears perfect, until her parents are killed in a car crash. Sara and her husband Dan are devastated by the loss. Months after her parents' death, Sara continues to grieve and struggles to cope. In an attempt to overcome her anguish, she and her toddlers travel to a cabin by a lake. Dan is to join her in a few days. Just hours after her arrival, Dan is contacted by the police who report a hysterical woman by the lake screaming over and over again, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have." She is incoherent. The woman is Sara and the twins are missing. As the story unfolds, questions are raised. Was the car crash, in which Sara's parents died, an accident? Is the crash and subsequent deaths related to the disappearance of the twins? Characters are from many walks of life: professionals, the homeless, blue-collar workers, and the religious. Intermingled in the plot are situations that illustrate how "Lessons Learned" as children influence who we become.
About the Author: Janis Anderson Yelton writes murder mysteries which keep you on the edge of your seat. Janis refers to her books as "Easy Reads." Her books are fast paced. "There will be no page skipping in my books," Janis proclaims. "My books are full of action and suspense - and not a lot of lengthy sunrise descriptions." But how Yelton began to write is a story in itself. In 1997, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, but along with this hardship came a "gift" - creativity. Janis began to write books. Was the creative side of her brain working harder to compensate for the diseased portion? Neither Janis nor her physicians knew. But what they did know she was one of many to experience increased interest in new endeavors, after their Parkinson's disease diagnosis. Researchers now speculate that approximately 20% of PD patients experience a change as a result of much needed medication. her fir In 2003 Janis' first book was published; but shortly after, her Parkinson's, which is a progressive disease, had advanced and kept her from writing. Then in September 2010 Janis began participation in a research study at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, involving a new medicine delivery system and "Voila!" Janis got her life back - which includes her ability and love for writing. Janis was raised in Northern Kentucky, where she and her husband continue to reside, as do their five grown children and nine grandchildren. The following books are available: LESSONS LEARNED; WHOSE BABY IS THIS?; I KNOW YOU'RE HIDING & I'LL FIND YOU; FOR A MOTHER'S LOVE; SAVING MOLLY JANE HAMPTON; and ACTS OF CONTRITION.
