About the Book

English summary: This book studies a book from the Second Sophistic, which revives the erudite discussions held at banquets by Plutarch and his various guests. The book proposes to study the place and function of medical theories and to systematically explore the relationship between medicine and the banquet. This convivial manifestation, as it is presented, has therapeutic and preventive virtues for the individual and the group with whom he associates. This study presents an unexplored side of Plutarchian thinking: he sees the banquet as a therapy for the body and as a moderator of passions, and also as a regulator of human relationships. French text.
