Synopsis des Funérailles inachevéesEn 71 apr. J.-C. jamais les mânes n'ont eu plus de raisons de se venger et les vivants de craindre. L'ancien légat Marcus Antonius Primus se voit contraint de fuir après la découverte de son complot visant à assassiner l'empereur Vespasien. Mais les soldats sont à ses trousses et les dieux ne lui sont pas favorables. Il est traqué jusqu'à Burdigala, brûlé vif et laissé pour mort sur les rives de la Garonne... du moins c'est ce que l'on croit.

Sa survie miraculeuse n'a pu lui être conférée que par la déesse Némésis, car la seule chose qui maintient encore en vie cet être, aux chairs brulées et l'esprit altéré par la drogue, c'est la vengeance. Il veut se venger de Pontus, d'Apex. Il les juge responsables de sa déchéance. Mais, leurs morts ne lui suffiraient pas, il veut aussi se venger sur tous ceux qui leur sont chers. Primus est comme une âme perdue.

Il erre entre deux mondes après des funérailles imparfaites et inachevées. Buvant au calice de la déesse, Primus ne s'arrêtera pas tant que sa vengeance sanglante ne sera pas complète.

Les Funérailles inachevées est le dernier des romans d'aventure et historiques publiés par Thierry Bontoux . Il s'agit du troisième livre de la série les Enqêtes de Lucius Apex. Les Funérailles inachevées fait suite au Complot de Marcus Antonius Primus (2016) et à Massilia (2017). Tout comme les deux livres précédents, il peut également être lu indépendamment.

La série les Enquêtes de Lucius Apex se plonge dans la vie quotidienne des Romains, pour donner corps à des romans d'aventure et des fictions policières historiques sur fond de meurtres et de conspirations contre l'Empereur Vespasien.
