A rebellious teenage outcast is their only hope...
She's wild and outspoken. Trouble follows Carla Mainston wherever she goes. But what do you expect from a purple outcast living in a green colony?
When a deadly disease spreads through the colony, and Carla's brother Joe becomes infected, she knows she has to find a cure before it's too late. But when her genetics kick in, and she begins inheriting mysterious superpowers, her life becomes a whole new level of crazy.
If she can just get a handle on her new powers, which so far only seem to make her gooey over boys, maybe she can become a superhero and save everyone, assuming she doesn't get arrested or have the life sucked out of her before then...
Legacy is a teen science fiction book in The Outliers.

Interview with the Author
Q - What kind of reader would like this book?
A - I think this book will appeal to teenage or young adult readers who are looking for scifi comedy or dystopian future adventures, especially those who enjoy reading about strong female heroines. The stories in The Outliers are set in a humorous science fiction world, so each book explores a different colony; their gods, societies, spies and superheroes. The storylines span from genetically engineered viruses and futuristic espionage mysteries to the apocalypse, so there are a lot of elements that any sci-fi reader would enjoy. Also, these are humor books, so there is a lot of silly stuff in there too.
Q - How long will it be before I can read the next book?
A - Three books in the series have been released so far, and the fourth book is coming soon. I write books quite quickly. I wrote ten last year. But because I did that, I'm working on multiple series at once at the moment. The next book in this series is scheduled to begin at the end of this year. I'm aiming to put out a lot of fantasy trilogies this year as well as finishing this one. If you sign up for my newsletter, I'll send you an email when I have an official release date.
Q - Have you been writing for a long time?
A - Yes. I was first published in 1994, and since then I've written and published many books, including writing for Harlequin and winning the SYTYCW competition. It's been a fun journey so far. I've had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best writers in the world along the way, which has been amazing.
Q - What's so special about The Outliers?
A - I think it's the combination of light-hearted satire and the vast science fiction world the series is set in that I find exciting about the stories. It's an adventure exploring all those different new colonies. On top of that, there are a lot of underlying themes that the stories touch upon in a light and teen-friendly way: developing societies, teen romance and relationships, stereotyping, cultural diversity, environmental issues. The series is based around very real themes that are cloaked in a comedy science fiction world.
Thanks for reading!
