Sie hatte immer Mitleid und Liebe für die Ärmsten der Armen. Ob nun die Menschen in den Slums von Kalkutta oder in den Ghettos von New York, Mutter Teresa versuchte immer an zwei Orten gleichzeitig zu sein, um den armen Menschen helfen zu können. Weltweit wurde sie mit ihrer missionarischen Arbeit berühmt, wofür alle sie lobten und verehrten. Mutter Teresa erhielt für ihre Arbeit 21 Auszeichnungen. Um genau rauszubekommen, wer sich nun genau bzw. was sich für ein Werk dahinter steckt, habe ich mich mit ihrem Leben etwas eingehender beschäftigt. 2. Ihre Kindheit Am 27. August 1910 wurde Mutter Teresa als Agnes Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in Skopje, einer Stadt in Mazedonien, geboren. (vgl. Allegri 1992, S. 23) Sie hatte zwei ältere Geschwister, den Bruder Lazar und die Schwester Aga. Ihre Familie waren bürgerliche Geschäftsleute. Der Vater, Kole Bojaxhiu, war Bauunternehmer. Mutter Teresa berichtete über ihren Vater als einen wohltätigen Mann, der die Armen niemals zurückwies. Ihre Mutter kam aus der Nähe von Venedig und hieß Dranafile Bernai. Mutter Teresa beschrieb sie als "sehr gottesfürchtig". (vgl. Allegri 1992, S. 24) Zuerst wurden Agnes und ihre zwei Geschwister in der Schule der Herz-Jesu-Kirche erzogen, bevor sie auf die staatliche Schule ging. Trotzdem wurde ihre religiöse Erziehung sowohl in der Gemeinde als auch zu Hause fortgesetzt. Zu Hause lernte sie vor allem von ihrer Mutter "Gott und unseren Nächsten lieben" und dass man niemanden von der Schwelle verweist, der um Nahrung, Kleidung oder Schutz nachsuchte. (vgl. Allegri 1992, S. 25) Ihr Vater verstarb als Agnes acht Jahre alt war. In dieser Zeit, wo die Familie fast alles verlor, lernte Agnes, dass man dem Unglück und der Armut
