A young man rejects what he was taught in Sunday school-and then is lost in a wilderness of doubt and skepticism. He wanders for years. At last he gets fascinated by Crazy Horse, a Sioux chieftain who saw a better way: The path of the sweat lodge, the sacred pipe, and the vision quest. His search leads him to the friendship of a wise Shoshone man who shows him what doors these ceremonies can open.
The young man, now middle-aged, feels free to throw skepticism and doubt to the winds. He takes up the sacred pipe. He goes on a vision quest, and on that quest his life is changed forever.
In these pages Win Blevins tells a very personal story, a tale of starting in darkness and finding a path to riding high on the winds of spirit.
REVIEWS for Win Blevins
"Stone Song is a deeply spiritual story about the soul journey of a great and mysterious American hero." - The Dallas Morning News.
"RavenShadow has the impact of a hurled war lance." - Dee Brown, author of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee
"It was an epic time, which lasted hardly more than a third of a century before civilization swarmed west on trails the mountain men had blazed. Now Blevins sees they are paid the awed honor that is due them, in a book which has the drama and suspense of a novel." ― Los Angeles Times/b>
ABOUT Win Blevins
After starting as a critic for each of the two big LA newspapers, I quit to jump at my first chance to write a book. It was GIVE YOUR HEART TO THE HAWKS, now in print for more than forty years, and recently on the NEW YORK TIMES best-seller list. Three dozen other books have followed, including STONE SONG, the story of the life of Crazy Horse. That led me to become a pipe carrier and to walk the red road, an adventure I'd never dreamed of.
