Lorsqu'elle a été initialement proposée, l'idée d'un programme « officiel » de multicul-turalisme payé par l'État, soutenu par les contribuables, et encadré et imposé par la police de la pensée (les commissions des droits de la personne) était à tout le moins discutable, et, au pire, en porte-à-faux avec le libéralisme occidental. D'ailleurs, tel que mentionné précédemment, le multiculturalisme est fondé sur la fausse idée - un autre mensonge officiel... - que toutes les cultures sont égales. Il s'agit, en fait, d'un dogme du siècle dernier que les grands penseurs rejettent de plus en plus. En effet, des critères établis permettent de juger des réalisations de toutes les cultures autant du point de vue des arts et de la littérature, de la religion et de la philosophie que du point de vue de la technologie, des modes de gouvernance et des sciences. Mais le critère fondamental à toute réalisation humaine demeure la liberté.

Je fais ici valoir que bien que le multiculturalisme ait déjà semblé être une très bonne idée, du moins aux yeux des politiciens et autres épris d'unité, il se révèle de plus en plus comme un mensonge - un doux mensonge peut-être, mais tout de même un mensonge - qui exerce une action destructrice sur l'héritage, les traditions et les valeurs démocratiques libérales de l'Occident fondés sur les droits et libertés individuels. Tout cela était prévisible, comme, de fait, l'ont prédit nombre de philosophes et historiens des idées qui considéraient la liberté comme incommensurablement plus importante que l'égalité dans le développement de l'Occident. Ils ont effectivement mis les gens en garde contre la tentation de restreindre la liberté dans leur quête d'égalité. »
