Sophie Rostopchine, comtesse de Ségur, est une femme de lettres française d'origine russe, née le 1er août 1799 à Saint-Pétersbourg, morte le 9 février 1874 à Paris.Extrait: Le général Dourakine s'était mis en route pour la Russie, accompagné, comme on l'a vu dans l'Auberge de l'Ange-gardien, par Dérigny, sa femme et ses enfants, Jacques et Paul. Après les premiers instants de chagrin causé par la séparation d'avec Elfy et Moutier, les visages s'étaient déridés, la gaieté était revenue, et Mme Dérigny, que le général avait placée dans sa berline avec les enfants, se laissait aller à son humeur gaie et rieuse. Le général, tout en regrettant ses jeunes amis, dont il avait été le généreux bienfaiteur, était enchanté de changer de place, d'habitudes et de pays. Il n'était plus prisonnier, il retournait en Russie, dans sa patrie; il emmenait une famille aimable et charmante qui tenait de lui tout son bonheur, et dans sa satisfaction il se prêtait à la gaieté des enfants et de leur mère adoptive. On s'arrêta peu de jours à Paris; pas du tout en Allemagne; une semaine seulement à Saint-Pétersbourg, dont l'aspect majestueux, régulier et sévère ne plut à aucun des compagnons de route du vieux général; deux jours à Moscou, qui excita leur curiosité et leur admiration. Ils auraient bien voulu y rester, mais le général était impatient d'arriver avant les grands froids dans sa terre de Gromiline, près de Smolensk; et, faute de chemin de fer, ils se mirent dans la berline commode et spacieuse que le général avait amenée depuis Loumigny, près de Domfront. Dérigny avait pris soin de garnir les nombreuses poches de la voiture et du siège de provisions et de vins de toute sorte, qui entretenaient la bonne humeur du général. Dès que Mme Dérigny ou Jacques voyaient son front se plisser, sa bouche se contracter, son teint se colorer, ils proposaient un petit repas pour faire attendre ceux plus complets de l'auberge. Ce moyen innocent ne manquait pas son effet; mais les colères devenaient plus fréquentes; l'ennui gagnait le général; on s'était mis en route à six heures du matin; il était cinq heures du soir; on devait dîner et coucher à Gjatsk, qui se trouvait à moitié chemin de Gromiline, et l'on ne devait y arriver qu'entre sept et huit heures du soir.
