En el año 1554 se publicó una novela singular, en cuatro ciudades diferentes: Burgos, Medina, Alcalá y Amberes, sin un autor que firmase su autoría, fue La vida del Lazarillo de Tormes, de sus fortunas y adversidades. De inmediato comenzó a circular por todos los territorios, en no pocas ocasiones copias manuscritas. Un año después, aparece de manera conjunta, solo en Amberes y posteriormente en Milán las dos partes de El Lazarillo. No llegando a circular en España, de manera inmediata fue prohibido por la Inquisición. Toleraron la primera parte, a pesar de atacar a la Iglesia, pero no está segunda parte.
La primera parte, trata por, primera vez, sobre la vida de un personaje humilde narrada en primera persona en forma de carta, desde su más tierna infancia hasta su matrimonio de conveniencia y en condiciones bastantes singulares.
Es una obra maestra, redactada con gran sentido del humor y mirada satírica. Lázaro, mendigo llega a la cima de su vida como pregonero. Lázaro nos habla de la triste realidad de un país sumido en la miseria y la corrupción en todos los estamentos de la sociedad.
La narración mantiene en todo momento un tono jocoso, pero a la vez nos hace plantearnos seriamente la sociedad de la época y la actual, tal y conforme solía decir mi padre: No hay ninguna cosa tan seria que no pueda decirse con una sonrisa. A pesar de la tragedia de cada momento, arranca la sonrisa del lector.

La segunda parte, mantiene ese tono humorístico y crítico, pero ahora no solo se desnuda la corrupción de la Iglesia, retrata a todas las instituciones, ninguna deja de lado: ejército, poder judicial, económico y hasta la Corte con su emperador al frente. Parte de la acción transcurre en el fondo del mar intentando burlar la censura, no lo logra. No lo publica en España, posiblemente porque los impresores no quisieron arriesgarse a la segura condena a la que serían sometidos, que podría haber perjudicado a sus negocios, y hasta a sus vidas. Cabe decir, que tampoco revela su identidad.
La segunda parte de Lazarillo de Tormes y de sus fortunas y adversidades -Edición Amberes, nos muestra los vicios y corruptelas de la época en que transcurre, sorprendentemente muy similares a los actuales.
Este libro tuvo la suerte de editarse fuera de España, de lo contrario jamás habría llegado a nuestras manos. A pesar de ser un libro de gran interés. Literariamente ha sido denostado por críticos, editoriales y por el poder político, judicial, militar y económico, como intentando evitar que se sepa de su existencia, por algo será.
Es un libro escrito originalmente en clave, mi labor ha consistido en interpretar ese librillo de apenas cuarenta páginas y transformarlo en una novela de casi ciento cincuenta páginas, intentando darle al mismo tiempo mayor entendimiento de acuerdo a mi estilo, sin faltar al espíritu del autor, espero haberlo logrado.
Esta segunda parte, es sin duda, continuación de la primera:
Lázaro, vendedor de vinos de Toledo, vive feliz con su mujer y su hija. No le falta de nada, un buen día decide embarcar a luchar contra el turco. Su vida cambia drásticamente y tras muchos avatares, termina siendo el válido del rey del mar, convirtiéndose en el hombre más rico de las profundidades marinas. Un día tropieza con la Verdad, y de nuevo todo cambia para él.
