The Last Woman
Love is just one emotion experienced in the journey of life, but perhaps the most powerful one of all. An award-winning writer shares his feelings on this most human of topics, offering insights through his imagery and verse.
The Last Woman explores love, jealousy, rejection, loss and relationships, sometimes with whimsy and sometimes with sadness. Poem subjects range from bubble baths and cell phones to relationships and human connections. The author's deft hand with turns of phrase turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.
Bill Garten
Award-winning poet Bill Garten won The Emerson Prize for Poetry and The Margaret Ward Martin Prize for Creative Writing. The prolific writer, a former English professor, has taught numerous creative writing workshops. Bill has published five books of poetry: Black Snow, Red Rain, Eventually, Symptoms and Box of Pain, Box Of Fear. The Last Woman is his sixth published book of poetry.
Bill, a Marietta College graduate, has published poetry across the United States in hundreds of literary magazines and academic journals such as Rattle, Hawaii Review, Asheville Poetry Review, Antietam Review, California State Poetry Quarterly, Laurel Review, The Comstock Review, Chaminade Literary Review, The Loyalhanna Review, Portland Review, Sow's Ear, Wisconsin Review, Context South and Poet Lore.
In addition to his numerous publications Bill has been anthologized in Wild Sweet Notes, And Now The Magpie, and What The Mountains Yield.
Bill, who now lives in Hudson, Ohio, has lived in West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia and Maryland. He is currently pursuing his MFA in Creative Writing at Ashland University. Bill also gives poetry readings and conducts creative writing workshops both domestically and internationally while continuing his education in creative writing and Spanish.
