Las mieles del infortunio es una novela de cimentación con alta complejidad, donde se nos va nos narrando cómo un hombre despierta en una pequeña habitación de la cual no encuentra salida, mientras que en la más absoluta oscuridad busca con insistencia las razones de su encierro, comienza a inundarse su mente con pensamientos diversos dejando al descubierto por el escritor los conflictos psicológicos y emocionales en la existencia en cautiverio solitario de la mente de un hombre, al mismo tiempo juega un papel fundamental entre esas cuatro paredes el intento afanoso de recordar una vida previa a su encierro, presionado constantemente por un algo que aparece de la nada y que comparte con él dicho cautiverio del cual desconoce por completo su origen. Acechado por un cumulo de recuerdos la vida para él comienza a tener significados distintos mientras intenta en todo momento encontrar más que una salida física una salida emocional, todos esos sentimientos lo van colmando en repetidas ocasiones hasta hacer que esa personalidad apacible con la cual nos encontramos en el principio se valla tornando con el paso del tiempo más irregular y explosiva, el dolor para el tampoco existía en un principio, pero fue calando en el mientras simplemente existía o así lo intentaba en esa oscura y silente mazmorra, esos cambios drásticos en su personalidad llegan al punto de atormentarlo y llevarlo hasta el sufrir en una lucha interna que va convirtiendo lentamente a nuestro personaje sin nombre en un ser esquizoide. El no poder sentir en su cuerpo ningún dolor lo hace muy vulnerable en esa nada que lo envuelve, aunque el dolor que causa una pérdida, el dolor que cusa encontrar lo que no se busca, hasta llegar al dolor de la vida misma lo hace despertar lentamente comenzando a sentir todo tipo de emociones que no tiene idea de cómo confrontarlas, al mismo tiempo encuentra fortuitamente en esa oscuridad en la que se encuentra un pequeños relieve, un algo en la pared, y comienza a fantasear con ella, le conversa, así como ella a él, dándole desde connotaciones religiosas hasta paganas incluso legándole a comparar con algún tipo de Dios o en otros caso un Demonio. Es esa simbiosis que existe entre él y la cosa la que hace que tenga el contacto con una realidad ya vivida, una realidad que formada por recuerdos le hace llegar a su mente imágenes de quien realmente fue, en medio de estas visiones espectrales que debe ir narrando a su carcelera la cual le exige que no omita ni uno solo de sus recuerdos ya que su libertad depende de todos y cada uno de ellos. A medida que va narrando hasta el más mínimo de los detalles logra darse cuenta de lo que ha hecho, de lo que ha sido y de lo que en realidad puede ser irónicamente el motivo de su encierro, es en ese punto donde comienza a volcar toda su ira contra aquel punto en la pared, aquella pequeña cosa que adherida a la pared le vigila constantemente. Aquel hombre ya enfermo, lleno de ira y frustraciones por sus recuerdos intenta inútilmente eliminarlo de la habitación, desaparecerlo para siempre. Menos doloroso es para él intentar deshacerse de ella usando cualquier medio disponible que el saber que esa diminuta cosa que lo observa desde las oscuras paredes, va a seguir allí esperando con ansias su muerte.
