Siendo sólo el poeta del amor, no siendo también el poeta del dolor, a lo peor no hubiera pasado de ser un romántico orientalista, avanzado literariamente en cuanto a dejar atrás las truculencias y las tragedias retóricas, pero no en esa dimensión honda en la que llega a descubrir, ochenta años antes que los existencialistas, que el mundo es un absurdo -lo dijo expresamente- y el hombre una inútil pasión. About the Author: Novelista, poeta, crítico de arte y de literatura, Manuel García Viñó fue dueño de un estilo cuidado y personal. En las décadas de 1960 y 1970, contribuyó a introducir en España las corrientes experimentales en novela y se convirtió en uno de sus mayores cultivadores. Autor de más de cincuenta libros, entre sus obras destacan las novelas La pérdida del centro o El puente de los siglos, sus estudios sobre Bécquer y los ensayos El soborno de Caronte y El mito de Fedra en la literatura, entre otros títulos. Junto a su obra creativa y ensayística, desempeñó en diversas épocas una intensa actividad de polemista, tanto al frente de la redacción de La Estafeta Literaria (1960-1963) como, sobre todo, de La Fiera Literaria (1995-2010). Nació en Sevilla en 1928 y murió en Madrid en 2013. ACVF pone a disposición de los lectores las mejores novelas y ensayos sobre arte y literatura de este autor clave en la cultura española del último tercio del siglo XX.
