Las alas del escorpión es un libro conmovedor y terrible a un mismo tiempo. En sus nueve relatos el autor explora sin pudor la psicología de víctimas y victimarios durante el nazismo. Las narraciones se fundamentan en hechos históricos -que el escritor modificó y combinó para dotar de un acabado estético- y en las cuales se exploran técnicas narrativas tan diversas como la perspectiva múltiple, el alter ego, el flujo de conciencia, el flash back, el racconto o las cajas chinas, entre otras.

El primer cuento, El último tren, es el relato con que el autor quedó finalista en el XXV Premio Internacional Juan Rulfo (Francia, 2008). Trata sobre un barbero que, siendo confundido con un judío de la resistencia y detenido durante la ocupación nazi de París, es enviado a Auschwitz, donde sobrevive como sonderkommando -miembro de un comando especial en las cámaras de gas-.

La muñeca de Cracovia es un homenaje a Zofia Burowska. Una niña sobrevive a los guetos de Cracovia y Varsovia y al campo de Dachau albergando un sueño: salvar su muñeca, alter ego que la acompaña durante la travesía, y regresar para rescatar el violín de su padre.

Los amantes de Buna es una historia de amor, la historia de una esposa que se finge loca para llegar a la consulta psiquiátrica de su esposo, en el campo de Buna, a 40 km de Auschwitz-Birkenau.

El andén de las valijas olvidadas narra la revuelta que un músico español planifica románticamente en Mauthausen, solo con su orquesta.

En El cazador asistimos a los turbios procesos mentales de un miembro del comando Aktion T4, que se esmera en cazar jóvenes con retardo mental, hasta que se topa con un hijo que ignoraba tener.

El gorrión caído del nido cuenta el testimonio de un policía noruego contra un jefe nazi en los Juicios de Núremberg, la sed de venganza y el vacío de regresar a una realidad devastada.

En el relato Los hijos del rastro en el agua somos testigos de las consecuencias del horror. Tres niños huérfanos -uno judío, otro musulmán y otra católica- son dejados al cuidado de un carpintero ateo, en la Roma de Mussolini. Los cuatro hacen juntos un viaje a Jerusalén al terminar la guerra, un viaje en el que cada uno busca o huye de algo.

El Payaso de Dublin cuenta la historia de Saah Kaboo, un mimo negro que vivió primero en Dublín, luego en el Berlín nazi y por último en el Berlín comunista. A lo largo del relato, Kaboo nos permite adentrarnos en un mundo donde la belleza del arte y el horror de la discriminación convivieron forzadamente en una época.

Por último el relato que da título al libro, Las alas del escorpión, cuenta la historia de un escritor y profesor de literatura que colabora con la Gestapo y luego es apresado, cuando sus convicciones son cimbradas por el dolor de una enfermedad terrible. Durante el cautiverio conoce a Viveka, un amor imposible que le dará forma a su rebeldía contra el sistema.


About the Author:

Kornelius Dekker (Berlín, 1961) es un heterónimo de Jerónimo Alayón Gómez. Junto a otros cuatro heterónimos forma parte del proyecto literario Círculo de Akanthos, cuyo objeto es escrutar los límites de la palabra, ese punto donde el lenguaje solo no basta para justificar la literatura.

Jerónimo Alayón Gómez (Caracas, 1966) es escritor y profesor en la Universidad Central de Venezuela. En 2008 quedó finalista del Premio Internacional Juan Rulfo con el relato El último tren. Desde 2012 desarrolla el proyecto Círculo de Akanthos, un nuevo enfoque de la teoría de Wittgenstein desde la perspectiva de los límites de la ficción.
