La metafisica sara fantascienza, oppio per la ragione? Essa corrisponde pero a una vera esigenza della ragione umana. Non sara l'esigenza di possedere una verita ultima in cui tutti i problemi dell'esistenza troveranno la loro soluzione, ma una necessita che appartiene intrinsecamente all'intelletto. L'intelletto umano non si soddisfa di qualsiasi ragione, lotta contro ogni rischio d'illusione, desidera una soddisfazione che sia proporzionata alle sue possibilita. Il libro si divide in due parti. La prima, una sorta di cammino ascendente, interpreta la figura che, nella filosofia del linguaggio, si chiama analogia. La seconda parte, un cammino discendente, esamina la sequenza del trascendentali proposta da Tommaso d'Aquino, interpretata integrando gli sforzi della filosofia dei nostri tempi.

Dal 2001 al 2008, professore invitato all'Institut Catholique de Paris. Dal 2002 al 2011, direttore della rivista Gregorianum. Dal 2011 al 2014, decano della Facolta di Filosofia dell'Universita Gregoriana, e dal 2015 pro-Decano della Facolta di Scienze Sociali della medesima.
