La Noche del Ruiseñor de Luis Bustamante Bazo, ha sido no sólo una de las gratas revelaciones poéticas que me ha sido dada a conocer en estos tiempos, sino que además su lectura me brinda la oportunidad de reencontrarme con este especial tipo de verso que en el ritmo y la cadencia se funden con el mensaje lírico para configurar una entidad indesligable, rica en matices sonoros y significativos. Poco después, la opinión de varios amigos vinculados a la actividad poética o a la crítica literaria - entre ellos un consagrado poeta ganador del Premio Nacional de Poesía- me confirmó en una idea que ya me rondaba: cada uno de los poemas de La noche del ruiseñor constituye, al margen de su valor como parte de la obra considerada unitariamente, una pieza literaria concebida para ser cantada. En otras palabras, el libro, merced a sus méritos poéticos-musicales, irrumpe como un genuino ejemplar de lo que podríamos denominar Cancionero. Sin embargo, creo que es preciso hacer una aclaración. Cuando digo que nos encontramos frente a un Cancionero, lo hago para referirme a un tipo de texto en que coinciden dos acepciones: por un lado, la que alude a aquellos libros que nos han permitido preservar buena parte de la antigua poesía castellana y gallega, y por otra, la vinculada con obras concebidas para conservar y difundir composiciones musicales de los siglos XV y XVI, sobre todo baladas corales y villancicos. Es claro que ni el contenido ni la finalidad de La noche del ruiseñor son los de los cancioneros antes mencionados, pero ese es su espíritu. Así pues, debo hacer énfasis en una convicción: los poemas de este libro merecen y necesitan musicalizarse para llegar con toda su potencialidad expresiva al amplio público. Y para muestra un botón. En efecto, he tenido el singular privilegio de escuchar la versión musicalizada del poema que aparece en primer lugar en este libro, bolero compuesto por el maestro Víctor Merino, y no tengo sino que expresar mi complacencia por su realización interpretativa, pero además me he quedado con una certeza: todos y cada uno de los demás poemas del libro son susceptibles de alcanzar el mismo destino, es decir, convertirse en logradas piezas de la canción popular. En todo caso, aquí están, esperando que entusiastas productores se decidan a lanzarlos al firmamento musical. About the Author: Luis Bustamante Bazo nació en Lima, Perú, el año 1941. A lo largo de una dilatada trayectoria en el campo cultural, ha realizado, con marcado éxito, un gran número de producciones de alto nivel artístico, entre las que sobresalen: The Armand Hammer Collection (EEUU), el Conjunto Acrobático de Shen-Yan, la Orquesta de Cámara de Berlín, The Little Angels de Corea, las Marionetas Napsugar de Hungría, el Teatro Kabuki de Japón, y la gran ballerina cubana Alicia Alonso. Por su destacada participación en múltiples manifestaciones culturales, ha recibido premios y felicitaciones. Asimismo fue invitado por prestigiosos organismos oficiales de cultura como el Ministerio de Cultura de la URSS, The Institute of International Education de los Estados Unidos de América, el Consejo Nacional de Cultura de Cuba y la Fundación Japón. Desempeñó importantes cargos en la Casa de la Cultura y el Instituto Nacional de Cultura del Perú (1962-1980). Participó como productor general en 12 Ferias del Hogar, evento artístico que anualmente organizaba la Feria Internacional del Pacífico. La Noche del Ruiseñor es su primera obra poética.
