About the Book

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

In the opulent Córdoba of the second half of the 16th century, a Moorish young man, torn between two cultures and two loves, launches an ardent battle for religious tolerance and the rights of his people.

The story of a young man trapped between two religions and two loves, in search of his freedom and that of his people, in 16th-century Andalucia.

In 1568, in the valleys and mountains of the Alpujarras, a rebellion has been sparked: tired of injustice, pillaging, and humiliation, the Moors confront the Christians and start an uneven fight that can only end with their defeat and dispersion throughout Castile.

Among the rebels is young Hernando. Son of a Moorish woman and the priest who raped her, he is rejected by Moors because of his background, and by Christians because of his family's culture and customs.

During the insurrection, he experiences brutality and cruelty, but he also finds love in the shape of the brave Fátima, the girl with the large black eyes. After the defeat, forced to live in Córdoba and in the midst of a difficult daily existence, all of his efforts go to regaining the dignity that his culture and his religion deserve. To do that, he must take risks and challenge the laws with bold, dangerous initiatives...
