About the Author: Daniel Esparza es profesor en la Facultad de Filosofía de la Universidad de Olomouc. Licenciado en Geografía e Historia (UMA), Máster en Turismo (ULPGC) y Doctor Europeo en Ciencias Políticas (UNED), es sobre todo aficionado al deporte y al arte de montar las olas. Entre sus obras académicas se encuentran: La Historia del Surf en Málaga (2014); Identidad nacional y el Otro (2010); Introducción a la teoría literaria (2011); o Identidad nacional y Literatura (2011). Es fundador y director del primer Centro de Investigación de la Historia del Surf y del Bodyboard en Europa: OLO SURF HISTORY. Es editor del área de historia, cultura y política del deporte en la Revista Internacional de Ciencias del Deporte (Ricyde); ha publicado artículos científico-académicos en revistas internacionales sobre identidad, política, historia y deporte. En 2003 fue seleccionado para el I Curso de Periodismo Internacional de El País y desde entonces ha colaborado con diversos artículos de opinión y reportajes de investigación en diarios españoles como El País o La Provincia; en revistas como CLÍO: Revista de Historia, Staf Magazine, 3sesenta o la desaparecida Anarda; o en artículos especializados en política internacional en instituciones como el Real Instituto Elcano. En 2012 fue galardonado con la Mención Especial por Unanimidad en el III Premio de Periodismo Ciudad de Málaga, por un reportaje de investigación sobre los orígenes del surf en el Mediterráneo.
