Este trabajo tiene carácter exploratorio y pretende brindar algunos lineamientos en torno a la comprensión e interpretación de textos. El objetivo general que guió la presente investigación fue reconocer las categorías y razonamientos principales de la corriente teórica de la Escuela de Francfort, en los estudios de comunicación realizados por dos autores argentinos: Aníbal Ford y Héctor Schmucler. En primer lugar, se presenta un marco introductorio sobre el famoso Instituto alemán y la gestación de la Teoría Crítica, especificándose su presencia en América Latina y también en Argentina. Luego, se citan datos bibliográficos sobre Schmucler y Ford, a fin de comprender mejor el proceder intelectual de cada uno de ellos. Se identifican y sistematizan las categorías y razonamientos de la Teoría Crítica y se realiza una discusión histórica-contextual; para ello se toman como base los propios escritos de tres estudiosos de Francfort: Max Horkheimer y Theodor Adorno en su explicación de la Industria Cultural, y Herbert Marcuse en la del Hombre Unidimensional.
