Que penserait Michel Foucault - celui des rapports de pouvoir et du lien entre pouvoir et savoir au XIXe siècle - de notre société actuelle ?

Ce livre est une recherche de philosophie politique et sociale sur l'oeuvre de Michel Foucault donnant à penser l'actualité (2021), et en même temps une vision inédite de Michel Foucault: ne proposerait-il pas, au fond, une forme d'existentialisme ?

Le propos de la recherche consiste à montrer à travers la critique de l'identité foucaldienne par quel processus l'identité apparait historiquement en outil de contrôle des individus, en passant successivement par les trois registres de l'intérêt de Foucault: le langage (avec la littérature, doit-on épingler le sujet dans le langage), le pouvoir (contrôle étatique et micro-pouvoirs, la fabrication de l'individu) et la sexualité (le genre et la scientia sexualis, dire la vérité du sujet en disant la vérité du sexe);

Pour y articuler le second paradigme proposé par Michel Foucault et dans lequel il bascule tardivement, à savoir: l'esthétique de l'existence, avec l'idée principale selon laquelle la notion d'art doit être appliquée à l'existence et qui repose sur le postulat selon lequel chaque individu peut inventer sa vie. Ici, trois figures de l'esthétique de l'existence: le dandy de Baudelaire, la figure de Socrate et le cynique grec ancien, introduiront l'étude des moyens de se créer soi-même et de faire de sa vie une oeuvre d'art. Ainsi les Anciens éclaireront le présent, pour esquisser sous la plume de Foucault une forme de société inédite.

La visée politique ici en jeu est en même temps une proposition très actuelle:
