About the Book

English summary: Pundits talk about government by the numbers, but few people bother to define those numbers. The present work examines the difference between statistics and accounting, the declining role of statistics in government compared with the increase importance of accounting. This essential study sheds much needed light on the transformation of governmental practices from the late twentieth century as part of the accounting counter-revolution.
