Psicoterapeuta endurecida por la pérdida de sus padres, Geri empieza a tratar el caso de Mina, una adolescente que delata un patológico complejo de Electra, y cuyo hermano ha fallecido en circunstancias sospechosas. El lector tiene acceso -un acierto formal- a los diarios del hermano muerto, los cuales presentan una subtrama de amor rodeada de un aura sobrenatural que, sin carecer de interés propio, se alía con las demás historias para tejer un compleja red de oscuros vínculos familiares y afectivos, que no excluye una inquietante nota de violencia. Así, el drama familiar y el thriller psicológico, que son llevados con mano firme hasta su culminación, involucran a personajes instalados entre la pubertad y una adolescencia extemporánea, cuyo universo íntimo se encuentra invadido por una exaltada religiosidad híbrida: en los rituales y creencias que la novela escenifica y postula, el cristianismo se mezcla con una vibración animista que evoca, por ejemplo a través de la figura de la calandria, la mitología de José María Arguedas. Los múltiples epígrafes, elegidos con acierto, no sólo potencian el argumento y perfilan a los personajes, sino que generan un archivo de referencias en el que dialogan Martín Adán, Paul Éluard, Goethe y T.S. Elliot, entre otros. El producto de todo ello es la creación de una densa simbología, principalmente ornitológica, que enriquece el sistema de relaciones de los personajes, y que a mi juicio constituye el mayor logro artístico de una novela bien escrita y contada con oficio, cuyo singular imaginario se cuenta entre los más originales de la narrativa peruana última." About the Author: Evelyn García estudió Geografía, Arte y Literatura en la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Ha publicado dos novelas "Un talismán para Liu" (la cual figuró en las listas de los mejores libros de 2008) y "La casa del sol naciente", que ganó el Premio Luces del diario El Comercio en la categoría de Mejor Obra Narrativa, en el año 2011. Publicó tres novelas cortas en el 2012, en la Colección Mitos y Leyendas de los Cinco Continentes del diario La República, estas fueron: "Thor, el poderoso dios del martillo"; "Pan Gu, vencedor del caos"; y "Popol Vuh, el libro sagrado de los mayas". Actualmente, se encuentra preparando su tercera novela, llamada "Génesis", que busca retratar la vida de los campesinos cajamarquinos entre los años 1879 y 1987.
