About the Author: Carlos Machado Allison, es un profesor e investigador venezolano graduado en Biología en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, luego se especializa en entomología médica de la Universidad de Sao Paulo y obtiene un PhD en Genética en la Notre Dame University en los EEUU. Ha sido autor de más de 140 publicaciones científicas, libros de texto, técnicos y de divulgación científica. También es columnista del diario El Universal de Caracas. Profesor titular de la Universidad Central de Venezuela y del IESA, fue Director General del principal instituto de investigaciones agropecuarias de Venezuela y especialista internacional del IICA en América Central. El haber vivido en seis países y conocer otros 30 le despertó una pasión por la historia que se plasma ahora en su novela, La Casa de Altagracia. En la actualidad es miembro de la Academia de Ciencias Físicas, Matemáticas y Naturales de Venezuela.
