Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Sonstiges, Note: 1,0, FernUniversität Hagen (Historisches Institut), Veranstaltung: Geschichte von Herrschaft, Staat und Politik, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Schriftsteller Manfred Bieler verfasste zu Beginn der sechziger Jahre den Roman "Maria Morzeck oder das Kaninchen bin ich" der im sozialistischen Osten Deutschlands zensiert und nie veröffentlicht wurde. Die literarische Vorlage war die Basis für das in der DDR von Regisseur Kurt Maetzig verfilmte Drama "Das Kaninchen bin ich". Nachdem das Drehbuch von Bieler und Maetzig gemeinsam verfasst wurde, produzierte das DEFA-Studio für Spielfilme, Gruppe "Roter Kreis", in Potsdam-Babelsberg das Stück unter der Leitung von Martin Sonnabend in den Jahren 1964/19654.Durch das Verbot des Films 1965 im Zuge des 11. Plenums der SED konnte die Premiere erst im Februar 1990 in der Akademie der Künste und kurz darauf beim Internationalen Filmfestival in Berlin stattfinden. Die Romanverfilmung beschreibt einen Lebensabschnitt der neunzehn Jahre alten, im System der DDR lebenden Protagonistin Maria Morzeck zu Beginn der sechziger Jahre. Die junge Frau gerät durch die Liebe zu ihrem in Haft sitzenden Bruder Dieter, als auch durch die Liebe zu dem verheirateten Richter Paul Deister in einen zermürbenden Konflikt. Dieser äußert sich durch die konträre Anforderung sich einerseits an die verkrustete totalitäre Politik, als auch an die "politische Strafjustiz" des sozialistischen Regimes der DDR anzupassen, und andererseits darin, auf eine neue human und demokratisch orientierte Weltanschauung der vorherrschenden Staatsmacht zu hoffen. Die nachfolgende Arbeit nimmt eine filmische Kurzanalyse sowie die Vorstellung von Autor und Regisseur vor. Außederm untersucht werden die damaligen gesellschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen, der Anlass der Filmentstehung und die historische Bedeutung des Films.
