Nach der inhaltlichen Einführung folgt in Kapitel 2 die Erläuterung der medienbezogenen Grundlagen der Kundenbindung, um eine stabile Basis für die in den nachfolgenden Kapiteln folgenden Betrachtungsschwerpunkte zu schaffen. Hierzu gehört die Definition und Abgrenzung der Produktformen Fachbuch und Fachzeitschrift, ein Branchenüberblick, die Erklärung des Bedeutungszuwachses von Marketing im Verlagswesen und die Einordnung von Kundenbindung als Marketingziel in Verlagen. Nach Klärung der medienspezifischen Grundlagen beschäftigt sich das Kapitel 3 mit den theoretischen Grundlagen und Erklärungsansätzen der Kundenbindung und liefert damit das wissenschaftliche Fundament für den Untersuchungsgegenstand. Nach der Vorstellung der Dimensionen der Kundenbindung im Kapitel 3.1 folgen die Darstellung des Beziehungsmarketings als Basis der Kundenbindung und die begriffliche Erläuterung und Abgrenzung des Beziehungsmarketings in den Kapiteln 3.2 und 3.3. Darauf aufbauend behandeln die drei Kapitel 3.4 bis 3.6 die Definition und Abgrenzung der Kundenbindung als Begrifflichkeit, die Darstellung der Wirkungskette der Kundenbindung als gedankliche Basis des Beziehungsmarketings und die Typologisierung der Kundenbindung. Kapitel 3.7 stellt die Komponenten und Ziele des Beziehungsmarketings vor, bevor Kapitel 3.8 die Gestaltung der Kundenbindung mit dem Schwerpunkt auf den Kundenbindungsinstrumenten zum Inhalt hat. Kapitel 4 befasst sich mit den Experteninterviews. Die Kapitel 4.1 bis 4.3 erläutern die Methode der Erhebung und das Auswertungsverfahren, bevor im Kapitel 4.4 die Ergebnisdarstellung erfolgt. Den Abschluss der Arbeit bildet das Fazit in Kapitel 5.
