In der vorliegenden Studie wird die externe Krisenkommunikation der BP PLC nach dem Untergang der Bohrinsel 'Deepwater Horizon' bis zum 31. Juli 2010 analysiert. Dazu wird die Krisenkommunikationsleistung von BP im Vergleich zu den definierten Handlungs- und Verhaltensmöglichkeiten der Krisenkommunikation analysiert. Diese Arbeit hat zum Ziel Mängel der Krisenkommunikation von BP aufzudecken, Verbesserungsvorschläge zu geben und somit herauszuarbeiten, inwieweit die Kommunikationsleistung mit verantwortlich ist, hinsichtlich des Imageverlustes des Konzerns. Ferner wird bewiesen, dass das Image des Unternehmens durch die Krisenkommunikationsleistung signifikant beeinflusst wird. Neben der Analyse der Kommunikationsleistung werden Handlungs- und Verhaltensmöglichkeiten der Kommunikationsabteilung bei einer eintretenden Krise anhand eines Beispiels erarbeitet. In diesem werden Ursachen und Wirkungen einer Krise dargestellt.
About the Author: Der gebürtige Wuppertaler Sven C. Stein studierte Medienwirtschaft und absolviert 2010 seinen Bachelor an der HS Mittweida. Im Anschluss erlangte er 2013 den Master in Kommunikationswissenschaften und Gesellschaftswissenschaften. Praktische Erfahrungen in der Krisenkommunikation sammelte er in den externen Kommunikationsabteilungen der RWE AG und Audi AG. Heute arbeitet er wieder in seiner Heimat, selbstständig als Kommunikationsberater und Experte für Krisenkommunikation bei Videmi.
