Einleitung Viel zu selten wird die eigentlich so spannende Frage nach den sozialen und psychologischen Vorgängen bei der Entstehung von musikalischen Werken bei Komponisten, aber auch bei musikalischen Gruppen des Rock -und Popbereichs gestellt. So kann man sich fragen, wie die Beatles eine derartige Fülle an "Hits" und klassische Komponisten, wie Beethoven oder Mozart solch zauberhafte Melodien schreiben konnten. Was gilt es bei der Ergründung dieser Thematik zu beachten und wo setzt man am besten an um solch kreative Gruppenprozesse erklärbar und verstehbar zu machen? Das Ziel dieser Arbeit soll es deshalb sein die Stimmung aus einem Proberaum, in dem gerade an einem neuen Song geschrieben wird, in Worten wiederzugeben und nach Gründen für das gute Funktionieren dieses kollektiven "Komponierens" zu suchen. Dabei gilt es eine Reihe von Einflussfaktoren zu berücksichtigen und Definitionen altbekannter Begriffe, wie Komposition, Improvisation, Rock, Pop, Jazz und Klassik zu hinterfragen und eventuell mit neuem Inhalt anzufüllen. Den theoretischen Rahmen der Untersuchung über die kreative Arbeit in musikalischen Gruppen bilden das Erlernen des Instruments, die damit verbundene Entwicklung, die Identitätsbildung, das Selbstkonzept, die Geschlechterspezifität und die musikalische Sozialisation. Die Ausarbeitung wird sich dabei größtenteils auf die Literaturlage im deutschsprachigen Raum konzentrieren, welche aber auch englischsprachige Literatur zusammenfasst und die wichtigsten Aspekte für die Erforschung kreativer Gruppenprozesse innerhalb der Popularmusik festhält. Gerade hier erscheinen immer wieder Mythen um den Geniekult von Autodidakten, wie Jimi Hendrix oder dem bereits erwähnten Paul McCartney.
