Diese werden im Laufe der Arbeit auf ihre Sonderheiten analysiert und verglichen, um daraufhin gegebenfalls Rückschlüsse auf bestimmte Sprachverwendungen zu finden. Öffentlichkeitsarbeit beziehungsweise Public Relations, welche als Synonyme verstanden werden können, sind in unserer heutigen medienzentrierten Gesellschaft und vor allem für den Kommunikationsmix von Organisationen unabdingbar geworden. Es ist unter Forschern weit verbreitet, dass gerade gute Kommunikation für den Fortbestand einer Gesellschaft und für ihr organisiertes Handeln essenziell ist. Public Relations (PR) erfolgt fast ausschließlich über Kommunikation, wobei auch unter anderem Lobbying, Bestechung als Mittel der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit verstanden werden können. Doch das Vordergründige Ziel von PR ist einfach ausgedrückt "das Bemühen, die Öffentlichkeit beziehungsweise Teilöffentlichkeiten durch die Selbstdarstellung von Interessen [zu] beeinflussen und damit Interessen durchsetzen zu wollen." Mit dem Internet haben sich die Kommunikationsmöglichkeiten der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit einer Organisation stark verändert. So können Organisationen nun weltweit schneller, intensiver und unmittelbarer mit ihren Teilöffentlichkeiten kommunizieren als mit jedem vorangegangenen Medium. Auch die Interaktion zwischen Kommunikator und Rezipient hat sich gewandelt und der Produzent eines Textes steuert den Kommunikationsprozess nicht allein. Online ist es grundsätzlich vorgesehen auch mal die Rolle mit dem Kommunikator zu tauschen beziehungsweise mit ihm zu interagieren, wie es zum Beispiel in Diskussionsforen oder am Ende eines Zeitungsartikels im Internet der Fall ist.
