Es ist in vielen Unternehmen eingeführt worden, weil man sich der Bedeutung des Mitarbeiters als entscheidender Produktionsfaktor immer mehr bewusst wurde. Moderne Personalführung betrachtet die Ressource Personal nicht nur als einen reinen Rationalisierungsfaktor bei zunehmendem Kostendruck. Vielmehr geht es um die Einbindung des Mitarbeiters in die Ziele des Unternehmens und um Motivation und Identifikation. Ökonomische Überlegungen haben dazu geführt, Veränderungsprozesse anzustoßen. Bei diesen notwendigen Veränderungen stehen der Mitarbeiter und die Entwicklung des Mit-arbeiters im Vordergrund. Potentialentwicklung und lebenslanges Lernen sind nur zwei Beispiele aus diesem Bereich. In Kapitel 2.1 wird aufgezeigt, weshalb vor allem das Gesundheitswesen und insbesondere die Krankenhäuser aufgrund des wirtschaftlichen Druckes Veränderungen vornehmen müssen. Das Mitarbeiterjah-resgespräch ist ein Führungsinstrument. Personalführung in diesem Sinne bedeu-tet die Einbindung der Mitarbeiter und der Führungskräfte in die Aufgaben des Unternehmens. Dabei geht es vor allem um Kommunikation und Verbesserung bzw. Veränderung des Verhältnisses von Mitarbeitern und Vorgesetzten. Die Entwicklung einer Vertrauenskultur ist erforderlich, um den Mitarbeiter auch zum Mitdenker und Mitgestalter zu gewinnen. In der Literatur findet man verschiedene Definitionen von Mitarbeiterjahresgesprächen. Exemplarisch werden an dieser Stelle drei Definitionen aufgeführt: "Das Mitarbeiterjahresgespräch ist ein Dialog zwischen Vorgesetztem und Mitarbeiter, der folgende drei Schwerpunkte beinhaltet: - Rückblick in die Vergangenheit. - Betrachtung der Gegenwart. - Erarbeitung neuer Zielvereinbarungen für die Zukunft" (Lüthy/Schmiemann 2004
