Wenn Kunden Produkte kaufen, gibt es immer mindestens zwei Sichtweisen: die des Kunden und die des Verkäufers bzw. Unternehmens. Aus Sicht der Unternehmen führt die fortschreitende Marktverdichtung und -sättigung zu einer Zunahme des Wettbewerbsdrucks, sodass eine effizientere Produktvermarktung sowie eine immer spezifischere Ausrichtung an den Motiven und Bedürfnissen der Konsumenten erforderlich werden. Die neue Disziplin Neuromarketing kann helfen, diese Problematik zu lösen. Im Fokus stehen dabei das menschliche Gehirn und die unbewussten Vorgänge, die das Konsumentenverhalten steuern. Durch Berichte in der Presse wurde bei den Konsumenten die Angst vor Manipulationen durch Neuromarketing geschürt. Dabei wurden von Bürgerrechtlern und Verbraucherschützern die Befürchtungen noch verstärkt, indem populistische Schlagwörter wie "willenloser Konsument", "Buy Button" oder "gläserner Kunde" benutzt wurden. Auch die beteiligten medizinischen Einrichtungen sahen sich den ethischen Bedenken ausgesetzt. Doch trotz der Befürchtungen und der steigenden Anzahl an Publikationen zu diesem Thema fehlt bisher eine ethisch kritische Aufarbeitung. Stattdessen werden die bisherigen Erkenntnisse und deren Umsetzung in den unterschiedlichsten Kommunikationskanälen beschrieben. Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland wies bisher einen vergleichsweise starken Konsumentenschutz auf, der allerdings durch die Schwächung des Datenschutzes vermindert wurde. Die zentrale Frage, mit der sich die Konsumenten daher beschäftigen sollten, bezieht sich auf die Gefährlichkeit dieser Forschungsrichtung gegenüber der Privatsphäre.
About the Author: Jana Zabel, M.A. wurde 1986 geboren. Ihr Studium der Betriebswirtschaftslehre mit Spezialisierung auf Marketing an der Hochschule Wismar schloss die Autorin im Jahr 2011 mit dem akademischen Grad des Master of Arts erfolgreich ab. Bereits während der fachlichen Ausbildung begann ihre Faszination für das Kaufverhalten von Menschen und den damit verbundenen Prozessen. Motiviert durch die zunehmende Bedeutung der Kunden-Unternehmens-Beziehung in der Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft betrachtete die Autorin das Thema aus Sicht des Konsumentenschutzes und Neuromarketings.
