Die Filtration ist ein häufig eingesetztes Abscheideverfahren für Partikeln aus gasförmigen oder flüssigen Medien. Man unterscheidet nach der Art der Abscheidung der Partikeln zwischen der Tiefenfiltration, bei welcher die Partikeln in einem Filtermittel abgeschieden werden und der Oberflächenfiltration, bei welcher die Abscheidung der Partikeln an der Oberfläche eines Filtermittels erfolgt und sich eine Deckschicht, der Filterkuchen, bildet. Bei der Oberflächenfiltration nimmt der Filtratvolumenstrom, meist das Produkt dieses verfahrenstechnischen Prozesses, im zeitlichen Verlauf der Filtration ab, bedingt durch Bildung und Wachstum des Filterkuchens. Um die Wirtschaftlichkeit dieses Abscheideverfahrens zu erhöhen ist ein Ziel, die Filterkuchenbildung zu vermeiden oder zu reduzieren. Eine Möglichkeit der Kuchenbildung bei der Oberflächenfiltration entgegen zu wirken, ist Filtermittel nicht in Richtung sondern quer zum Filtratstrom anzuströmen. Dieses Verfahren wird als Querstromfiltration bezeichnet. Durch die Überströmung quer zum Filtermittel wird, insbesondere auch bei sehr kleinen Partikeln, die Wirtschaftlichkeit der Filtration erhöht. Trotzdem kann weiterhin eine Kuchenbildung auftreten. Werden Partikeln in einer wässrigen, kontinuierlichen Phase suspendiert, dann sind sie fast immer negativ geladen. Deshalb kann durch ein die Querstromfiltration überlagerndes elektrisches Feld eine weitere von der Membran weg gerichtete Kraftwirkung auf die Partikeln erzeugt werden, um somit eine Deckschichtbildung zu vermeiden. Ziel dieser Studie ist es, zunächst die theoretischen Grundlagen des elektrischen Feldes zusammenzustellen. Danach erfolgt die Dimensionierung eines Moduls oder mehrerer Varianten zur Untersuchung der Querstromfiltration mit überlagertem elektrischen Feld im Labormaßstab.
