Im zweiten Kapitel wird die Wahrnehmung anhand der einzelnen Schritte des Wahrnehmungsprozesses erläutert sowie ein Einblick in die Wahrnehmungsinterpretation gegeben. Das darauffolgende Kapitel beschreibt den Einfluss der Wahrnehmung auf Personalauswahlverfahren und stellt eine Auswahl an Fehlurteilen, die bei der Einstellung auftreten können, dar. Schließlich werden die Gütekriterien der Eignungsdiagnostik erläutert, um ableitend aus diesen Erkenntnissen im vierten Kapitel konkrete Handlungsempfehlung für die Personalauswahl zugegeben. Die Arbeit schließt mit einer kritischen Diskussion ab. Viele kennen die Situation, dass der erste Eindruck des_der neuen Kolleg_in überzeugt und sich im Nachhinein dieser Eindruck aber nicht bestätigt. Täglich begegnen wir vielen Menschen, die wir insbesondere im beruflichen Alltag richtig einschätzen müssen. Vor allem in Bewerbungsgesprächen muss sich möglichst schnell ein genaues Bild von der Person gemacht werden, um zu entscheiden, ob der_die Kandidat_in für die Stelle geeignet ist. Häufig wird sich dabei auf das Bauchgefühl verlassen und versucht nachträglich die Fehleinstellung damit zu rechtfertigen. Dabei überschätzen die entscheidungsbefugten Personen ihre Fähigkeiten und erinnern sich nur an die positiven Fälle der Personaleinstellungen. Forschungen belegen, dass Fehlurteile Entscheidungen beeinflussen. So sollen 80 % der Einstellungsentscheidungen Fehlurteilen unterliegen.
