About the Book

This is the story of three boys, Knucklehead, Bent-Arm, and Thighbone. They live in the stone age, maybe 500,000, years ago. They invent several things that will be useful to the tribe, now and in the future. To be a man each of the boys must go on a Spirit Quest, successfuly hunt large game, and bring it back to the tribe. Later they will have families of their own and may become tribal leaders. Everything they invent or do has been invented and done in real life -- just not by them, and most of it could, or can, be done by you if you live or visit the country.
About the Author: The Author is writing under the pen name of E. Treffry and also uses it for his art work. He started working on, and building parts for, marine vessels belonging to his Father in 1956. The first project was as a welder's helper building spare rudders. Later that year he worked on one of his vessels, a river towboat, traveling on the Illinois, Mississippi, Ohio, and Cumberland Rivers and the Gulf Coast Canal. In later years he helped in the design, construction, repair, and operation of a 89ft. fishing vessel, used on Lake Michigan; a dredge, used building an interstate by-pass around Memphis TN; and several passenger and party vessels (from 125 to 400 passengers), that have operated on the Illinois, Mississippi, Coosa (AL), and St Johns (FL) Rivers and a few smaller rivers and lakes. While doing this he obtained a 100 ton Masters certificate from the U.S. Coast Guard. Ed also has helped build, rebuild or repair a number of houses. When Ed wasn't doing anything else he worked as a Safety Officer, Purchasing Agent, Foreman, was a certified welder (on both Marine and High Pressure refinery vessels), was a Repair and Maintenence man, did drafting on a number of projects (two USCG inspected vessels, the repair and maintenence of both raised, ground, and in ground water tanks, highway bridges, and a movable 40ft by 60ft work floor 15ft above operating machinery in a room 320ft long); doing this work for a number of companies. In addition to the Masters Certificate (USCG/MM) he has several associate degrees, a batchelors degree, and several USAF qualification certificates while in the Civil Air Patrol. Ed has written two books, one book about the river (River Ride - not yet published), a book of short stories, (The Storyteller - Amazon 2012), several short stories published in Tap Root 2010 and Tap Root 2011 - both Amazon, and an Prairie Smoke 2010 - an in house publication of the Homer Glen Public Library; and a number of unpublished short stories.
