Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Ältere Deutsche Literatur, Mediävistik, Note: 2,0, Technische Universität Dresden (Institut für Germanistik), Veranstaltung: Proseminar "Diu Klage", Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit liefert eine Analyse des Klagerituals in der zum Nibelungenlied gehörenden Klage. In der Analyse folgt zunächst eine komprimierte Einführung in die Entwicklungsgeschichte der Totenklage, in welcher auch der Begriff des Rituals nach Hans-Georg Soeffner erschlossen wird. Nach der Darstellung des Totenrituals in der Klage und der Analyse der drei Hauptfiguren, Etzel, Dietrich und Hildebrant, werden ausgewählte Figuren mit Hilfe von Sigmuns Freuds Terminologien von Trauer und Melancholie in zwei unterschiedliche Klageformen eingeteilt. Dabei soll die Frage nach der Produktivität und Funktionalität dieser beiden Klageformen geklärt werden.
