About the Book

Unearthed from her diary, Kill Me Dead reveals an intimate perspective of UK Dorsey's breaking point, living as an ESL teacher and plotting her own death on the mysterious, distant island of Japan. Suicidal thoughts gnaw at the fabric of her life, attempting to shred it to pieces. She had planned to spend her last days on earth with strangers. She would die of starvation and loneliness. She would leave pages filled with bitter words. On her journey to salvation, she is harassed by a five-year-old Japanese girl, sleeps on the streets of Tokyo, soaks naked in an onsen with strangers, and rides in a seductive taxi. Combining humor and anguish, UK speaks to those who contemplate suicide. She urges one to appreciate the simple things in life.
About the Author: As a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, UK Dorsey became imaginative and full of life. She dreamed of exploring the world. She earned her BA in radio/television/film from CAU, and her MFA in screenwriting from National University in LaJolla, California. As a former scriptwriter, producer, and editor of ABC News Bureau, UK broadened her horizon in film production, self-publishing, and international travels. In 2004, she wrote, produced, and directed Intercession: A Celebrate Recovery Story, a short film about a young mother's addiction to crack cocaine. Since its debut, Intercession has been a high demand for local and international churches implementing the Celebrate Recovery Program. In 2005, she escaped to Toyohashi, Japan, the "Land of Opportunity," and lived as an English as a second language (ESL) instructor. Her life changing experience inspired her first book, Kill Me Dead: A Memoir. In 2007, UK wrote her first independent feature film titled My Soulfa, a drama that tells the story of Gabrielle Garcia, an estranged daughter of a famous Latin jazz singer, who lures men into her psyche of sexual misconduct in order to have a child. She also contributed as assistant director, production manager, and production designer on the film project. In 2009, she launched a webisode travel show, Couch Hoppers, featuring two women filmmakers following their dreams by traveling the universe and documenting it all in just 48 hours. Webisodes include destinations to Japan, Senegal, the Netherlands, India, Bermuda, Dominican Republic, Panama, and Trinidad and Tobago. She devotes most of her time to writing screenplays, including The Sip, House of Crazy, The Legend of Mackey Lake, Acre Boys, To Protect a Predator, and Madame, May I. She desires to develop, create, and distribute memorable films that will educate and empower the masses, specifically women who are victims of violence. UK is a member of the International Screenwriters Association, Atlanta Screenwriters Group, and Atlanta Writers, Authors, and Publishers.
