About the Book


Keto chaffle is a mixture of keto bread and the American dish chicken fried steak. It is traditionally made by combining ground beef, ground sausage, salt, pepper, vegetables, eggs and bread crumbs into a smooth paste placed in the freezer until it becomes hard. The meat mixture is then fried under high heat for five minutes before serving in place of a pancake.

A Keto Chaffle can also be created by coating an egg custard with beaten egg whites before frying under high heat until golden brown on one side and cooked through. The custard can be flavoured with anything from sugar to vinegar and salt to herbs. It can also be served in place of a pancake and eaten with syrup.

History of the Keto Chaffle

The keto chaffle is a low carb alternative to the American dish chicken fried steak. Chicken fried steak is a popular dish in certain areas of the southern United States. It is made by coating a steak piece with seasoned flour, egg and bread crumbs before frying. The use of breaded meats dates back to 1504 when used as an alternative to bread during the famine. The first mention of chicken fried steak came from Texas, where cowboys combined ground beef with eggs, pepper and salt before flattening it with their fist into pieces that could be cooked easily over an open fire or skillet.

The traditional method for making chicken fried steak is by coating beef with seasoned flour, egg and bread crumbs before frying. Before the bread is added, it must be an inch thick and skinny. It is then flattened using a meat pounder to about 2" thick and then pounded again to a thickness of 1" before being fried in butter or oil. The meat is typically served with gravy or tomato sauce.

Keto Chaffle vs Kreacher's Chicken Fried Steak

Keto chaffle has many similarities to chicken fried steak, but there are also some differences. Keto chaffle has less fat because it does not contain suet. It also has less oil and fat because it is modified to have a low glycemic index, and it does not contain butter. The traditional chicken fried steak is made by coating the meat with seasoned flour, egg and bread crumbs before frying. It can be served with gravy or tomato sauce.
