About the Book

Keith Matthews was a vastly talented actor, musician, theatre director, performed playwright and charity bookshop manager. He performed in many plays and his artistic career lasted over forty five years. As well as being an expert on the UK radio game show Just a Minute (on which he contributed to two published books) he also found time to write a large number of plays, sitcom episodes, poems, short stories and novel length works. Keith Matthews Plays Two is the twelfth book to be published posthumously following Keith's very sad and rather unexpectedly sudden passing back in June 2015. He had suffered from epilepsy since a random collapse at his then place of work (the Cockpit Theatre, London) back in 1994. For a long time it all remained a mystery as to what caused his 'Wrigglies' (as he sometimes referred to them). Nevertheless, Keith took it on the chin like any other challenge he faced in life, and got on living with it. Much later though, when the doctors were baffled by his late onset illness, he found himself referred to an independent epilepsy research institution, to find out how to help him cope with the condition.... What Keith found when he arrived for his residential care and agreement to stay for six weeks only, was an oppressive institution when the most vulnerable were bullied and belittled and compelled to stay and subscribe to an inflexible set of rules. This two month or so experience became the basis of 'Shakey a-go-go' (or The Wriggly Play). In addition to this we also get a real treat of a number of shorter plays and scenes. During his life Keith had intended to release his work into the public arena but sadly he never got the chance to share this collection of creative works. Also available via Amazon, Fiction and Fact, Brothers of The Fallen Moon (Authored under K. E . Matthews), Poems, Stories & Song Lyrics and Volume One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six and Seven of 'Save Our Souls' (or SOS). And more recently 'Keith Mathews Plays One.' I do hope you enjoy Keith Matthews: Plays Two. "....He picks you up when you are down and makes you think throughout...."
