Die Musikschule Reutlingen schult Kinder darin, sich für Musik in all ihrer Tiefe, ihrem Audruck und der damit verbundenen Emotionalität zu sensibilisieren. Denn "Musik ist etwas, das in ganz viele Bereiche des mensch-lichen Daseins reinschwingt", behauptet die Leiterin der Musikschule Reut- lingen, Karin Hurle. Da wir alle als Kinder geboren wurden und genau genommen ein Leben lang Kinder unserer Eltern bleiben, auch wenn wir uns körperlich, geistig und in unserem Verhalten zum Erwachsenen weiterentwickeln, könnte man behaupten, dass uns die Reinigung der Seele ein Leben lang betreffen kann. Warum sollten wir nicht auf Musik als Hilfsmittel für "unsere persönliche Katharsis", unsere individuelle Reinigung, zurückgreifen? "Musik ist gut für die Seele, sie kann heilen. [...] In der Musik kann Trauer und Schmerz sein, Schönheit und Kraft. Musik kann alles verändern. Sie ist der Soundtrack unseres Lebens. Ein Fest für Seele und Körper.", sagt die aus New Jersey stammende Jazz-Sängerin Melody (Joy) Gardot in einem Interview mit Thomas Staiber. "Musik kann alles verändern", unter anderem den Zustand der Seele, die Stimmung des Gemüts. Musik beeinflusst und verändert die Psyche, nimmt also auch Einfluss auf unsere physischen Kräfte. Die Emotionen eines Künstlers, hier eines Musikers, spiegeln sich in seiner Musik wieder und werden durch Text und durch musikalische Atmosphäre dem Hörer vermittelt. Dies geschieht ferner durch die Elemente Rhythmik und Har- monik, von denen die Musik Gebrauch macht, um die Emotionen des Musikers aus- zudrücken und sie dann zu übertragen. Die Reinigung der Seele durch die Musik beziehungsweise die Reinigung der Seele von Affekten (=Katharsis) ist jedoch ein umstrittenes Thema, welches über Jahrhunderte erhebliche Diskussion
