The Karma of Vengeance, Book Two in the Karma Killings Trilogy Following on from the acclaimed suspenseful thriller Malevolent Karma, the interlinked destiny of three young men continues unrelentingly forward. "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, foot for a foot." (Exodus) According to one´s point of view, revenge is an intrinsic and natural part of human behaviour. It´s as old as when homo sapiens first walked the earth. Whether humans have this condition as part of their gene systems, developed over thousands of years, and part of our ability to reason that most other animal species have not yet developed, is the subject of much scientific, psychological and philosophical debate. Most of us, at one time or another have experienced the undeniable at times, the fury of wanting to extract revenge. As a child, someone has stolen your sweets; in adolescence, it could have been your boy/ girlfriend, (getting personal here!); or some big corporation or bank has treated you or yours with contempt that the often found in the DNI of the powerful (even more personal!). The action moves through Scotland, Ireland and the Basque country of Spain. The Karma of Vengeance is set in the explosive cocktail bar of social, cultural and political events of the nineteen-eighties.The basic ingredients are fairly standard; sex, power, ambition, corruption, deception, manipulation, love... add to the shaker, a substantial measure of IRA and Basque country terrorism, and an unknown ingredient called karma, and the resulting cocktail is more firewater than toddy. A catastrophic explosion at a small Scottish hotel has wiped out the officer cadre of one the Royal Navy nuclear submarines. The Three young boys are present at the scene by reasons of their destiny. One confesses to accidently causing the conflagration, but other evidence is uncovered that a bomb may have exploded. For reasons of national security, this evidence is suppressed by the government. The IRA and the Thatcher government are maintaining silence. Both want to perpetuate a public posture that it was a tragic accident, but others have reason to demand and exact revenge and retribution. Enjoy the reading, but don´t expect a romantic ending! About the Author: About the Author: Norman MacRitchie Reeley Following family tradition, he was originally destined to be an engineer in the shipyards of the River Clyde in Scotland. A chance meeting on a rain filled winter´s evening with an old school friend changed the direction of his life forever. He defied his father; quit his `secure´ engineering apprenticeship to train to become a chef. As well as enjoying the creative but high-pressure world of the kitchen, he re-discovered the joys and satisfaction of education, and became a Senior Lecturer in a College of further education. His underlying ambition however, was to open a family-run bistro-style restaurant in the manner of the French or Italian model. He quit his job in the college and opened his dream bistro-restaurant near to the Royal Navy Clyde submarine base, which quickly obtained a reputation far beyond the local area. The family moved to Spain, buying a hotel in the beautiful seaside town of Javea, on the Costa Blanca. After retiring, Norman has enjoyed travelling around Europe in his old campervan, writing travel articles, dabbling in local politics and amateur sculpture. He now writes fulltime. In reference to his own experiences, Norman has always been fascinated by the way supposedly random chance, luck, or abstruse agents influence and change the most detailed and thought-out plans that man can devise. Frederick Forsyth used this to great effect in his novel `The Jackal´, when President Charles de Gaul bends his head in salute just as the assassin´s bullet is fired. It is a pity that President Jack Kennedy didn´t have the same luck, chance, or divine intervention force back in Dallas in 1963.
