About the Book

Just like in the movies is about three intriguing characters who share little in common except for the thread of friendship that binds them all together.   Summary Of The Book Amit, Rishika, and Rima, also known as Rimz, traverse through young adulthood together as friends with individual hopes, dreams, and lifestyles painting them uniquely through conflicts and victories. Full of enthusiasm and a penchant for adrenalin driven pursuits of fun, Rimz is the livewire of the friends. She works in event management, handling star events and dazzling in them herself. She wants to be a pop star but really only has one complaint with her life. The absence of a love life that is what she wants; where is her Prince charming and will she be the princess or the pumpkin? Amit works in Urban Planning, hates his job, and is still trying to single out the real meaning of his existence and what he wants to do with his life. His real passion is in articulating and mitigating environmental concerns and being part of this movement but his job keeps coming in the way. His beautiful girlfriend is the reason he counts himself as one of the luckiest men and uses food as therapy to overcome problems. Rishika is sensible, rational, and level headed, all the things that make for visible success and indeed she takes the cake with her steady relationship and her interesting job.  Her inclinations towards reason make her the veritable agony aunt that both Rimz and Amit employ to help themselves with some sound advice. She takes on this role quite happily. However even Rishika has her own quotient of anxiety over her aspirations to become the acclaimed writer she always held so close to her.   The book engages a casual tone throughout even though it sets up these characters and their lives with liberal sprinklings of romantic misadventures and financial troubles that keep testing their intentions and their aspirations. All through, the comfort of friendship is the recurring leitmotif that unites the characters and their plights with some form of hope. A completely relatable novel, Just Like In The Movies  is coming of age for the youth of India and tends to keep a ‘slice of life’ treatment making for a feel good atmosphere that keeps readers absorbed in the novel. Saini has restrained from the use of romance as a focal point and employed a creative narrative engaging all three characters’ voices. About Rahul Saini A next generation writer, the author writes his books predominantly keeping in mind the youth of India. He has written other books like, Those Small Lil Things: In Life and Love and The Orange Hangover. His casual narrative and repertoire of vibrant characters has already helped augment his claim as a popular writer. Rahul Saini was born in the year 1983 and brought up in the small town of Jalandhar. An architect by profession, he indulges in photography and holds an keen interest in filmmaking.
