About the Book

After the initial deer-in-the-headlight trauma of making the key note speech for Tony's eightieth surprise birthday party, Tony's forty-five-year-old son Joe, left the audience cracking up, however felt his job incomplete, as he realized they only got a smear of the wackiness that is Tony's world. "You just can't make this stuff up." "Someone has to write a book about him; he's hysterical-a real charmer; he has that 'IT' quality." But Joe always chuckled to himself as everybody got short-changed; what about the other thirty-two wacky personalities they didn't get a chance to meet like the stripper, bacon torture chef, military general or not for prime time inventor. "It wasn't such a big deal when he started creating duct tape tree ornaments or bedazzling his hoodies. It's when he began substituting non-UL approved half-gallon opaque Dolly Madison Sherbert Containers for overhead light fixtures that made me pause." In this book, his son weaves a brilliantly hilarious, but heart-warming unconsolidated comedy channeled through the eyes of Joe as a ten-year-old boy looking back as an adult on this serpentine adventure. A quirky and non-traditional father-son odyssey that unfolds in Brooklyn c. 1973, at Sunnyside Shores, Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Aunt Nana's Staten Island Retreat, on a excruciating father-son Syracuse bus trip, in the prized 1966 Catalina Sedan, and most frequently, in the Brooklyn home over shop talk and plastic slipcovers, "Just Do This Thing Already" is a no-nonsense chaotic, belly-aching, father-son patriotic odyssey delivered from a fresh comedic voice.
About the Author: Brooklyn born and raised, Joseph Anthony Guerriero is the only son of Edith and Anthony. The self-proclaimed apostle of Howard Stern, Larry David, Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and David Letterman, he honed his own comedic skills by studying the quirky and idiosyncrasies of his parents and bought in early to their philosphy of laughter is the cure to all your problems. "My parents could find laughter in death. We had fun growing up, but they still believed children should be heard not seen, so while I couldn't comment on the comedy play that was being played out before me, I took alot of mental notes so I could get them back some day." Joe graduated Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, Boston Univesity, and SUNY at Stony Brook, New York earning a bachelors and master's degree in geology and hydrogeology along the way. For the last twenty-five years, Joe has worked as a professional hydrogeologist in the identification and management of strategic water sources and cleanup of contaminated sites across the US and Caribbean. Joe is a nationally-certified professional geologist with the American Institute of Petroleum Geologists and a Professional Geologist in the State of Alaska. "Just Do This Thing Already" is Joe's first book. Prevoiusly writing credits include a written short that was selected by The Letterman Show (and taped for air) about a ten-year-old boy and his best friend who posed as the sons of the owners of Ringling Brothers Circus to get backstage at Madison Square Garden to be part of the show. Joe has also written a comedic short for a Recipe Book describing how to prepare and cook fresh Walleye on a rental car's engine block to have a fresh fish dinner by the next rest stop. "I have been a student of observational comedy and creative writing and finding humor in the mundane. I remember driving home one evening and I got a message on my cell phone from David Letterman's producers asking me to come to the studios to videotape my comedy short for air. I was blown away that I got selected as I grew up on David Letterman. It was one of those moments that I thought maybe I should write some comedy. It gave me the push to write "Just Do This Thing Already." Joe is currently living in Andover Township, New Jersey with his wife, Denise, and his eleven-year-old daughter, Gabriella. Currently, Joe is employed by a major insurance carrier, responsible for the management and cleanup of contaminated sites across the US.
