About the Book

"Just a little bit" is a collection of short stories illustrating the contribution of destiny towards life under unfavourable conditions. It speaks volumes about keeping up the hope under adverse situations, falling in love, facing tricky circumstances and yet winning, expecting the unexpected, not having hopes and getting rewarded, losing it all and gaining back, unusual relationships and friendships that defy time, feelings unexpressed, braving it all and finding happiness, pain and forgiveness and unexpressed love and so much more.Snippets from the book: ImprisonedThey were three when they had gone out of the house and they returned four. Ben's mother, Alicia was shaking from top to bottom. Just seeing him made her shiver and get palpitating attacks. It seemed to her that her heart had suddenly become weak and the blood vessels would rupture in no time. She was cursing herself bitterly on why they had gone out for a picnic in the first place. They were at least secure when they were within the walls of their home, even if it meant that they had to face boredom. They shouldn't have ventured out into those green jungles. They shouldn't have got down from the car. The prisoner wouldn't have been able to stop a speeding car. Halting a car in between a jungle was the most ridiculous thing that they ever did. Her list of what shouldn't have been done was endless. She would remember this in her entire lifetime, if at all she came out alive from this terrorizing situation. The revolver was still pointed on Ben and seeing the Glock, he shuddered. One bullet in his brain and his skull would be a red watermelon crushed on the floor. With that thought, they reached their house and the four of them silently crept into the house in the dark. The sun had long set and the evening had brimmed and the dark night was approaching. It would be the beginning of their darkest night. UnpredictedAfter a while, Mac bumps into her. Amelia detests even looking at him, as she recollects her conversations with him. For some reasons, he was sounding quite bossy in the morning, even if it was just for asking a name. She felt he wasn't polite and moreover she hardly knew him. He had just joined at the workplace a week before and he was already bossing around. He had an air of egotism. Perhaps she was prejudiced about him, but his personality did not make it feel any better. As she was stepping out of her office, she asked one of her colleagues: " Who is that new officer in the office?" Her colleague answered with a smile: "He is one of us. He has joined recently, but already knows his job very well. He is experienced". "We'll see to that." Amelia said with contempt, waving him goodbye. DestinyShe decided to mark this day to a celebration and brought herself a chocolate candy at the store nearby. She removed the candy wrapper and delighted herself with the chocolaty taste, when the cold cream slid deep into her throat to double her excitement. She sat near the candy store, looking around. The roads were knitted with vehicles, submerged with noises and she sat there relishing the candy, thinking about the job that she had just landed. She stepped out after finishing the candy and washed her face in joyful contentment. The ripples of tiredness and fatigue she had long felt due to her struggle had finally found its mark. She decided that she had to get home and then inform her father first, about this new job. She walked quite a distance, without realising that she was heading in a completely wrong direction. It was one distorted left turn that she had taken and she then got confused how to go back to her original destination and then take it from there. She asked people around, but the directions were again twisted and wrong. She seemed a wreck. She panicked a bit considering that, soon it would be evening and it would get dark.
