Excerpt: Featured Article Acrocanthosaurus was an Allosaurid Theropod Dinosaur of the early Cretaceous period in North America, with a particularily tall spine column, giving it a similar appearance to the Spinosaurids of the same time period. Unlike Spinosaurids, who were marine hunters, serial killers of duckbills and small carnivores like Rugops, or other Allosaurids who were notorious, lightly built sauropod hunters, Acrocanthosaurus is a heavy built predator that prefers slow moving prey and carrion over other meat.
